We recently made a change to the Remove URL tool in Webmaster Tools to eliminate the requirement that the webpage’s URL must first be blocked by a site owner before the page can be removed from Google’s search results. Because you’ve already verified ownership of the site, we can eliminate this requirement to make it easier for you, as the site owner, to remove unwanted pages (e.g. pages accidentally made public) from Google’s search results.

Once you’ve requested to have a URL removed from the search engine’s result pages, your account will be flagged for a 90 day grace period, during which you can revoke the removal request. Google will continue to spider your website but not display it in results page during this period.

For permanent removal, you must ensure that one of the following page blocking methods is implemented for the URL to be removed:

indicate that the page no longer exists by returning a 404 or 410 HTTP status code

block the page from crawling via a robots.txt file

block the page from indexing via a noindex meta tag

For more information, read more about Easier URL Removals on Google Webmaster Central.

I’ve been noticing alot of start up companies developing more and more interesting concepts when it comes to search technology, and evolving it into a more aesthetically pleasing and less metciulous process getting your desired search results.

Sure, you’ve heard about the advancements in user powered search engines like Cuil and Stumpedia, but the only search engine that REALLY has made me give it a double take is SearchMe.

SearchMe‘s interface is already visually stunning, and after a few modifications to the interface (and of course after they have a comprehensive database of search results) … I think I might actually switch from Google! Be careful, if you go to the video search engine, you might fall in love! SearchMe has truly innovated video search interfaces with their carousel display style that you can see.

Other features available make SearchMe truly unique, such as the ability to group your searches into “Stacks” … which allow you to categorize your searches and keep them organized, making it easy to delve into past searches and find an old result with efficiency, instead of retracing your steps on the search engine itself.

Get ahead of the game and submit your websites to SearchMe today!

I really like where this system is going, but there seems alot of room for user manipulation of the application, but I’ll stick it out and see how it goes, you should too!

In 2007, alot happened in the world of search engine marketing. Several strategies were born and met their fate last year. Some of these strategies were eighty-sixed because they provided unfair leverage within the search engines and made websites appear to be of more worth than they were.

1. Directory Links – Google pretty much stripped away all the value gained from one-way and reciprocal links that were achieved by directory submissions. PageRank dropped, and so did link value. Now, directory listings are close to good for nothing.

2. Reciprocal Links – Anyone who actively pursued link exchanges as their main source of backlinks felt the wrath of Google as they stripped PageRank of websites who did not have a good ratio of reciprocal links to one way natural links.

3. Text Link Brokers – Companies like Text Link Ads thought they were going to be the next big hit, but as they were starting to grow, their very foundations were shook when Google applied penalties to the SERP’s of many websites. Now text link brokers have gone underground, and carefully swap their goods in 2008.

4. Sponsored Blog Posts – Many websites who were using sites like Smorty, ReviewMe, and PayPerPost as a main way to drive revenue to their blog experienced PageRank and search engine ranking position penalties as well, now bloggers using these paid to post networks have to disguise their paid blog posts to look more legitimate to search engines.

5. Subdomain Supremacy – Many networks (and also spam blogs) utilized this handy SEO technique to leverage search engine spiders’ mechanics by adding many keyword rich subdomains onto the main domain. Google swiftly amended this problem by allowing no more than two subdomain results from a single domain to appear in the search results for a given keyword. This hasn’t fully been worked out as some search queries still return more than that.

Finding “do follow” blogs is probably on everybody’s “most annoying menial task” list … but it is something that needs to be done.

On your daily hunt to find places to sneak backlinks (or legitimately fish for comments back to your blog) … don’t you get tired of using custom Google search queries to find blogs with decent PR and Alexa ratings related to your blog’s niche?

Well, look no further! Here are a few Do Follow Blog Search Engines that have been crafted from Google’s Custom Search feature. Some DoFollow Search Engines are better in my opinion because they have a feature to contact the owner’s to offer suggestions or even report blogs that appear in the search engine that do NOT follow the “DoFollow Blog” rules.

Jerry’s Search Engine – www.jyse.com

DoFollo – www.dofollo.com

w3ec’s DoFollow Search Engine – www.w3ec.com/dofollow/

Comment Hunt – www.commenthunt.com

Remember, you shouldn’t spam links back to your blog, try to read the various blogs and comment on ones that interest you and really reflect your niche. These are the best backlinks.
